In the event you need to surrender your pet or a stray:

The Pet Pantry of Lancaster County Rescue does accept surrenders. However;

because we are a limited admission, no-kill, rescue organization and our space to house animals

is minimal; it is important that you don’t wait until it is imperative that you find a placement. We rely heavily on volunteer foster care homes for our new arrivals. For this reason, all of our intakes for surrendered or stray animals must be done on an appointment basis. The scheduling of intake appointments depends on available space and foster homes to care for them, the rescue manager’s schedule and the availability of our veterinary staff to assist in conducting intake exams. We are NOT able to accept pets that are dropped off at either our offsite adoption room OR our main location.

If you are in need of an intake appointment for your pet or for a stray abandoned pet:

Please call the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County at: 717-983-8878

Please keep in mind that depending on the current number of animals we are caring for or

have placed up for adoption; it could be anywhere from a week to several months before we would have an available intake appointment. Also keep in mind that all animals scheduled for an intake appointment will be evaluated for behavior and adoptability and all cats must be tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids viruses. There is no guarantee that we will accept the animal at the appointment.

In addition, we do require a surrender fee to help us provide necessary veterinary care and daily supportive care to the animals.

Our surrender fees are as follows:

$50.00 per animal

$75.00 per litter

Do you need to bring anything to your intake appointment?

If you have scheduled an intake appointment for an animal, you should have identification with you as well as any pertinent paperwork or veterinary records referencing your pet and the surrender fee when you arrive.   Please be aware you will be asked to sign a surrender form, transferring legal custody of the pet to the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County Inc. in the event the intake is approved.
